Brow Lift in Atlanta, GA

With aging and exposure to environmental factors, your forehead can develop deep wrinkles or furrows. These furrows are referred to as “worry lines” and can give you an appearance of being angry, sad, or tired even when you are not. Some men and women as young as 30 years can exhibit these forehead wrinkles. A brow lift or forehead lift can remove forehead wrinkles and improve your facial appearance. Brow lift or forehead surgery can help you look more alert and years younger.

Dr. Aaron Fletcher, Board Certified, facial plastic surgeon in Atlanta, GA — can help guide you in your journey to refresh your facial appearance with an expert brow lift surgery.

What is a Brow Lift Surgery?

Brow lift surgery¹, or a forehead lift, is a surgical procedure which cosmetically improves the appearance of your forehead by smoothing out furrows and wrinkles.

There are several types of brow lifts with the primary difference being the technique and placement of incision. The newest technique for a brow lift is endoscopic. Endoscopic techniques are less intensive than procedures such as a coronal lift. A coronal brow lift involves a larger incision behind the hairline and is typically used for people with a recessed hairline to hide the incision.

With an endoscopic lift², small incisions are placed just behind the hairline. An endoscope, tiny camera, projects images onto a screen and these images are used to help guide Dr. Fletcher’s work.

This procedure has significant benefits in faster recovery time and less risk of scarring and numbness. Younger patients are more likely to be a good candidate for an endoscopic brow lift. Older patients may be more likely to get more intensive brow lifts for optimal results.

A brow lift is an outpatient procedure performed under IV sedation. A brow lift typically takes between one to two hours to perform. After surgery, you can have pain and swelling for up to two weeks. You will see full results within months, and they can last for years.*

Men and women may be a good candidate for a brow lift if they are bothered by the following facial conditions:

  • Horizontal wrinkle lines across the forehead and between the eyes
  • Vertical creases that develop between the eyebrows
  • Sagging brows

Patients also may be concerned with sagging skin around the eyes. In some cases, eyelid surgery may be recommended as a complimentary procedure to a brow lift.

Brow Lift FAQs

If you get a brow lift in Atlanta, you should expect the result to last for a lifetime. However, it is possible for the results to fade during the natural aging process because the skin loses elasticity. Many professionals agree that a person’s appearance looks more youthful if even if there are some slight changes due to natural aging, than if the patient never had an eyebrow lift at all.

To help maintain your results, make sure to avoid UV light as much as possible and wear sunscreen regularly to protect your skin. Keeping your skin healthy will help reduce the signs of aging and help keep your eyebrow lift results longer.

A brow lift is a cosmetic procedure that raises eyebrows to create a more youthful and improved appearance. It is considered an outpatient procedure meaning that it does not require a hospital stay, and patients can go home right after the procedure. Patients should expect IV sedation for a pain-free experience. Usually, a brow lift takes between one to two hours to perform. The procedure is carried out by raising the soft tissue near the brow and forehead. Someone may choose to have a brow lift if their brows are uneven, sag, or sit low, which may impact vision.

Different types of brow lift procedures involve different techniques to achieve the final outcomes of the procedure. The most modern type of brow lift technique is called endoscopic, which is a less invasive approach. With this particular approach, a small incision is placed in the hairline, and then a small camera projects images on the screen that guide the surgeon’s work. It is considered a faster, more effective solution in many cases.

The benefits of the endoscopic brow lift are:

  • Faster recovery
  • Less visible scarring
  • Less numbness

Patients should expect some pain and swelling for about two weeks following the surgery. To help reduce any potential issues, you should follow the guidance from your doctor for a better recovery. Full results will be seen within a matter of months, and the results will last for years to come. Keep in mind results will vary from patient to patient.

As with any procedure, a brow lift may have some risks to keep in mind. The potential risk may include the following:

  • Visible scarring
  • Elevated brow line that can only be corrected with additional surgery
  • Unevenness of the brows may occur during the healing process
  • Permanent or temporary numbness in the forehead or scalp

Because it is a surgery, patients may be at risk for bleeding or infection. If you notice signs of infection, such as developing a fever, then you should reach out right away for more guidance.

For the best results and the decreased chances of risk, it’s always best to rely on a trusted plastic surgeon like Dr. Fletcher to provide the safest environment and quality of care.

For less risk and better recovery, it’s also important to follow the suggested follow-up care, including:

  • Arrange for someone to care for you during the first 24-48 hours after the procedure
  • Wear all bandages for the recommended time (usually during the first 24 hours)
  • Elevate the head during the first 24-48 hours
  • Shower after 24 hours and use gentle products and avoid heat
  • Do not consume alcohol, aspirin, or anti-inflammatories for at least 48 hours
  • Avoid heavy lifting or intense exercise until they are approved by the doctor
  • Stop smoking at least six weeks before the surgery and continue refraining from smoking during the healing process

Each patient is different, and the doctor may have unique guidelines for your brow lift recovery based on individual needs and medical history.

It depends on the goals of the patient since these treatments address different issues. A brow lift is a surgical procedure that is more expensive than Botox but also has lifetime results. Botox is more affordable and less invasive but must be done every few months to maintain results. If your concern is centered on fine lines and wrinkles, then Botox may be the right option for you.

However, if you have sagging, droopiness,s or uneven brows, then a brow lift may be the better choice. Your doctor can work with you to determine which type of procedure is best for your needs.

There is no definitive age for when you should get a brow lift. However, an eyebrow lift is considered a cosmetic procedure that addresses the signs of aging. Since most people don’t have aging concerns until later in life, the average age for patients who get this procedure is usually between 40 to 60 years old. However, younger people who experience low or sagging brows may also benefit from this procedure. A full evaluation will determine if you’re a good candidate for a brow lift surgery.

It depends on the goals of the patient. A blepharoplasty can improve the appearance of the eyes, but it does not raise eyebrows. Blepharoplasty surgery is ideal for someone who wishes to remove extra fat and tissue from the upper eyelids. A brow lift is more appropriate for someone wanting to address the skin and soft tissue in the forehead. However, sometimes combined, these procedures are to achieve the best results.

If you’re considering a brow lift in Atlanta, then you likely have questions about the cost. The average cost for this procedure is about $4,000. However, rates may vary depending on the patient’s needs. Most insurance companies do not cover an eyebrow lift because it is classified as an elective cosmetic procedure.
